Below you will find a schedule and description for each summer class and club this summer. Registration is open to everyone even if this is your first time doing a program at Detour.

Devised Theatre Workshop

Have you ever wanted to play a character you love, but haven’t gotten the chance? In this character workshop, you’ll choose a character that you love and we’ll explore how that character would respond to different situations and how they’d react to the other characters joining us each day!

Singing Workshop

Want to improve your singing techniques? Are you interested in learning to sing in harmony? Then come make beautiful music with us in this exciting Singing workshop!

Physical Theatre Workshop: Stories Without Words

In this physical theater workshop we will be acting with our bodies and learning to tell stories without speaking. In this workshop you can expect a lot of movement, a lot of games, small groups working together, and a showcase at the end. If you want a space to express what you can't put into words, if you want to challenge yourself, if you want to tell a story in a new way, please join us this summer.
This class starts one week earlier than most of the others.

comedy club

We will work together to create a night of comedy combining short comedy sketches, improv, and stand-up comedy.

The whole approach: asl and more

In this class, we will work on understanding and expressing visual language (ASL) through movement, facial expression, and stories. We will learn how sign language comes from how we experience the world. This class requires a willingness to have fun and try new things, no previous sign language experience necessary!
This class starts one week earlier than most of the others.

dungeons and dragons

Come work together to create characters, improvise, and solve problems in an imaginary world that we create together!

June 30 - July 28

Storytelling workshop

In this class, we will learn how to craft stories about our lives for the stage. We will decide on a theme, learn the parts of a story, and each artist will develop a short story for performance. At the end of the class, we will share these brand new stories for the first time. This class will be taught on Zoom. Students will receive a Zoom link in their email before the first class.

If you are new to Detour, you must fill out this registration form as well as sign up for any classes that you would like to take. All actors and contractors (coaches, teachers, directors, program leads, volunteers, etc.) MUST fill out this registration form one time within the 2021-22 season.
